Please
put away and out of sight your cell phones during class. It has become
necessary to enforce confiscation because of the frequent disregard of
this rule. If your phone is confiscated, it will be brought to the
office.
Period 4: Federal Survey Cards
1. Independent Reading -- Because we were concerned with the personal essay last week, I did not make it a point to remind you of your independent reading book. Please make your new selection as soon as possible. I know that some of you have started something new.
2. Personal Essay -- I am going to begin grading these essays. We worked on them all of last week through Thursday. I asked you to complete your essay on your own.
3. Module #2: "The Rhetoric of the Op-Ed Page: Ethos, Logos, and Pathos" -- I will pass out to your the packet for this module.
4. Activity #1 -- In your Writer's Journal respond to "Getting Ready to Read." What do the three terms "ethos, " "logos," and "pathos" mean? We will read "Three Ways to Persuade" together.
HOMEWORK: Personal essay if you have not completed it!
